Come and Try Sailing Day also known as PTBO (Push the Boat Out) Saturday May 12th
Published 16:41 on 22 Mar 2018
This is a very important day in our calendar.
On this day we open the club to the public to come and try sailing for free and hopefully gain some new members. It has been extremely successful in the past, but needs a lot of planning and support from members to help it run smoothly.
Please keep Saturday May 12th free. Come and help on this special day.
We need experienced helms to take our visitors out on the water and there are many land-based jobs to fill, such as shoreline helpers to organise people wishing to sail, fitting buoyancy aids, rigging and organising boats etc. This would be under guidance of our Commodore and Vice Commodore.
We also need help, on a rota system, to supervise the entrance barrier and gate and greet our visitors.
Help with refreshments is always invaluable and we will be asking for donations of home made cakes to tempt our visitors, when they are not on the water.
We also hope to have a boat jumble, so will be asking for help to supervise this.
Most importantly, please publicise this event to your family and friends.
Last year we had nearly 170 visitors on the day.....the place was buzzing! Although tiring, everyone seemed to enjoy the day. We had lots of positive feedback and attracted several new members.
If you can help, please let one of the Committee know.
