TOPPER AND OPPIE ACTIVITIES for 2012 TBA

Dates are to be confirmed when the 2012 programme is sent out in the Spring.

Please note that Topper and Oppie activities are only available for HCYC members. If you wish to join please click on the How to Join page to downoad an application form.  

Topper and Oppie activities were held on a few Sunday afternoons during 2010.  The sessions are open to children of members.

If you are interested in these activities for 2011 please contact us with your children's christian names and ages. 

If you are interested in Youth Racing sessions for 2012, please let our Senior Instructor know. Club Toppers can be used or your own single handers, like Picos would be most welcome. The sessions will be run by young persons for young persons so again please contact us if this appeals to you.

When the sessions will happen will depend on the level of interest.

Dates

Mandatory 

Lifejacket, footwear and a parent or carer available at the club at all times. 

Preparation 

We have 6 Oppies available. The children will work in pairs as Rigging Buddies to get the Oppies ready for launching. Each Oppie will be checked before entering the water, and each sailor will be checked for lifejacket and footwear.

Launching 

The children are encouraged to launch and recover the boats themselves.

Activities for the day may include:

• Water Polo
• Balloon Tag
• Ducks

During the session we will go ashore for rest breaks. 

Safety

All children must have their own lifejacket and suitable footwear.

The patrol boat will be on the water, or moored nearby.

The Oppie officer may cancel proceedings if weather conditions are unfavourable.
